The reference for me, is the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, where imperfection, even damage, on a ceramic, say, is what makes it even more beautiful. A philosophy for life! Speaking of metaphors. I often talk with students about failure in the studio. Failure is your friend. There are no mistakes in your studio, only opportunities.

I would like to find other publications here on Medium that cover essays on the ideas behind creativity—visual art, writing, poetry, musice, all art, it’s philosophy, politics. Not just ‘how to be a better writer’ or ‘how to get more followers’ etc. Any suggestions? (ps. Is there a place to message writers privately?)
